SPOILER ALERT – Do not keep reading if you wish to see the ending of Dark Knight Rises, or do not want even an inkling of a hit of the ending!
During an interview with The Dark Knight Rises star Anne Hathaway, who plays Catwoman, David Letterman could have potentially ruined the ending of the film for those who watched the Late Show on Thursday.
In utter shock, Hathaway responded to Letterman’s statement that Batman (played by Christian Bale) dies at the end of the third and final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise, by saying “Dave!”
“I just want you to know the wrath that you have just invited onto yourself. Chris [Nolan], I had no part in it, I'm sorry,” she continued, People reports.
Letterman likely screened the film before his interview with Hathaway, but at the same time there could be no truth to his statement.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Letterman took the whole situation in stride, even seeming entertained by it all. He asked Hathaway if the “Chris” she was referring to was “the director guy.”
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20 and it’s estimated to make about $160 million at the box office for its opening weekend alone.
It’s very unlikely that Letterman’s comments could influence this caliber of a film.
