‘Glee’ regular cast to return for season four, Chord Overstreet could become series regular

By Daniel S Levine,

Glee fans who were anxious to see who would return for Fox’s hit musical dramedy’s fourth season will not have to worry. The entire cast is set to return and Chord Overstreet is reportedly in talks to become a series regular.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Monday that all 15 members of the regular cast, which includes Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer, have accepted co-creator Ryan Murphy’s offer to come back. However, it is not known how many episodes each of them will star in.

Deadline also reports that Overstreet will return to the show, although as a regular member of the cast.

The future of The Glee Project season one winners Damian McGinty and Samuel Larsen remains unknown.

Glee’s writing team returned to work this week and will have to try to find the right balance between appearances by characters who have been there since season one, including those that graduated at the end of season three, and new characters who will be introduced. THR reports that Michele, Monteith and Colfer will likely appear in most episodes, while the other actors will appear on an as-needed basis, although they could still be considered series regulars.

Glee’s fourth season will feature special appearances by Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson, who will appear in multi-episode arcs.

When Murphy spoke to Vulture back in May, he mentioned that most of the cast would be returning. "We had a meeting, and you know we've become like a family, and I said to them, 'Anybody who wants to stay on the show will stay on the show,’” Murphy said. “They're all coming back...Anyone who is a regular is coming back. Everyone said yes.”
