True Blood fans rejoice, because HBO has decided to renew the vampire drama for another season. The television network also announced that it will renew the hit new series The Newsroom.
According to The Washington Post, the announcement was made Monday morning. The Newsroom stars Jeff Daniels and Emmy Mortimer. Daniels plays a news anchor whose public rant about the state of the country goes viral. Mortimer co-stars alongside Daniels, playing his new executive producer and ex-girlfriend.
So far, the premiere has averaged 2.1 million viewers, making it one of HBO’s most-watched premieres. Although the show has received mixed reviews from critics, the numbers do not lie. A mere two episodes of The Newsroom have aired, but it seems the show has a very bright future ahead of it.
True Blood has also been renewed for a sixth season, starring Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. The season five opener scored 5.4 million viewers, so I guess audience members just haven’t had enough of the hungry bloodsuckers.
