Josh Lucas and wife Jessica welcome son

Josh Lucas and wife Jessica welcomed a baby boy on Friday, the actor’s rep has confirmed to the media.

According to Us Weekly, Jessica gave birth to Noah Rev Maurer on Friday.

People confirms that the baby was born in New York City, weighing 9 lbs., 4 oz.

Lucas, who co-starred with Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama, confirmed that he was engaged to Jessica, a freelance writer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in January. The couple became engaged after a scary encounter with a mountain lion while at an “eco retreat” in Big Sur, California.

“I hear, totally serious, two big breaths, and six feet above me, I see the very slight glint of the eyes of a huge [mountain lion] and I literally proceed to do what I had just read in the instructions,” he told Leno about the experience. “And I started screaming and yelling and literally being as crazy as I could be, it padded off and just slowly went away and I worked my way into the trailer and I got in and I decided at that moment that this woman was the woman for me.”

They married in a quiet ceremony in March.

Lucas, 41, starred in J. Edgar and The Lincoln Lawyer last year and also starred in NBC’s cancelled drama The Firm. This year, he will star in Stolen with Nicolas Cage and Big Sur.
