Russell Brand, British comedian, actor, and now pop star Katy Perry’s ex-husband, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property in New Orleans for tossing a paparazzi’s iPhone through a window back in March.
As reported by Reuters, Brand is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Sean Early on Thursday, though Brand is not being required to make an appearance.
According to E! News, Brand faces up to six months in jail or a $500 fine if he is convicted. That being said, it is highly unlikely that Brand will serve any jail time.
This is not Brand’s first run-in with the law, or a paparazzi for that matter. In 2010, Brand was arrested for allegedly attacking a photographer at an airport in Los Angeles. In 2011, he was deported from Japan for his criminal past, after attempting to visit his then wife Perry, who was on tour there.
Brand will now have to wait to hear his fate.
