Taylor Swift moved past Justin Bieber on Forbes magazine’s new list of highest paid celebrities under 30. The list was overwhelmingly dominated by women, with Bieber ranking as the only guy in the Top 5.
Forbes found that Swift earned an amazing $57 million between May 2011 and May 2012. The 22-year-old country singer’s fortune exploded this year because of her concerts, which bring in an estimated $1 million each night, and her endorsement deals with CoverGirl and other companies. The magazine also notes that Swift’s albums are almost guaranteed to sell at least 4 million copies each and her three studio albums have each gone platinum multiple times.
Swift’s fortune helped her earn the 11 spot on Forbes’ Top 100 Celebrities list in May.
Bieber, 18 comes in at No. 2 this year, notes MTV News, with $55 million earned in the past year. The “Boyfriend” singer has reaped the benefits of huge music sales, concerts, endorsement deals and great investments in tech start-ups.
Rihanna, 24, finished in the No. 3 spot with $53 million. Thanks to the immense success of Talk That Talk, “We Found Love” and tours, the Barbados-born singer had a great year.
In fourth is Lady Gaga, 26, who had success with Born This Way. However, since Forbes’ time frame ended just before her Born This Way Ball tour started, Gaga made just $52 million in the past year. Last year, she topped the same list with $90 million. Next year, she’ll probably experience a big boost thanks to her worldwide tour.
Katy Perry, 27, finished in fifth with $45 million. Hits like “Part of Me,” album sales and concerts have helped boost the soon-to-be divorced singer’s fortunes.
The rest of the Top 10 includes Adele (24, $35 million); Kristen Stewart (22, $34.5 million); Lil Wayne (29, $27 million); Taylor Lautner (20, $26.5 million) and Robert Pattinson (26; $26.5 million).
