Gold medalist Aly Raisman signed her first major endorsement deal with Poland Spring water.
Executives from the company believe that the gymnast shares their belief in being the best, and have signed her for a one-year deal. No other details of their partnership were released.
The company’s senior marketing manager, Seona Skwara, says that, “She’s an inspiration for so many people, but it’s also how she got to where she got to, and that’s by putting in a lot of hard work and effort to really achieve her personal best. That combined with her down-to-earth, genuine character is what the brand looks for.”
This deal makes Raisman the second athlete that the company will endorse without a team. The first was marathoner Josh Cox.
She told fans at an event in her native Needham, Mass. that, “I’ve been using Poland Spring water for so many years, so it’s an honor they’d want to work with me. Plus they’re from New England, so it’s really exciting.”
Poland Spring is based in Maine and is owned by Nestle Waters North America, which is based in Stamford, Conn.
At the same event Raisman also said that she has received other sponsorship offers, but did not say with what companies.
The Boston Globe reports that the gymnast’s deals prior to the Olympics were with Kellogg’s, Polo Ralph Lauren, and GK Elite Sportswear. She is also part of the “Got Milk” promotion.
