Carly Rae Jepsen has had a huge year. The 26-year-old who, just this summer, performed at both the Billboard Music Awards and the Teen Choice Awards, has a few celebrities to thank for helping her achieve her success.
“Call Me Maybe,” that song you just can’t get out of your head, went viral after a homemade video of Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, and members of Big Time Rush lip synching to the song hit the Internet. The song eventually had numerous spoofs including other celebrity spoofs by Katy Perry and even Cookie Monster.
Now, Jepsen is signed to Bieber’s Schoolboy Records and eagerly awaiting the September release of her new album, Kiss, and she says Bieber “digs it.”
Jepsen performed “Call Me Maybe” on the Today show on Thursday. With all the success and viral videos, Jepsen revealed her favorite spoof.
"It is tough to pick a favorite,” she told Today, according to The Press Association. “I think for me the special one remains the Justin Bieber one. Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, it was sort of the video that sparked them all so I think it's forever going to hold a bit of a special place for me."
