Jack Black turns 43.
Jack Black was born in Santa Monica, California in 1969 to a mother and father who were both rocket scientists.
Growing up, his parents had a sometimes volatile relationship which left Jack searching for attention. Black’s parents separated and his father moved away. He began acting out and was sent to an alternative school by his mother. While attending the school, a teacher suggested that Black should act as a form of expression. He took this advice and pursued acting.
From an early age Black was a performer. At the age of thirteen he appeared in an Atari advertisement. As many performers do, Jack Black began with small roles. Since the beginning of his career he has appeared in many films which include The Cable Guy, Enemy of the State, Orange County, and one of his best known roles as Dewey Finn in The School of Rock.
Black has played both comedic and dramatic roles. He has even lent his voice to the animated movie, Kung Fu Panda and its sequel. He continues working on more projects that often display his ability to play a variety of characters.
Jack Black has been one half of the band, Tenacious D since they began in 1991. Black, along with Kyle Gass play rock songs that contain comedic lyrics. The two are currently on tour in the US and have upcoming dates in Europe.
