Green Day joins forces with Angry Birds to launch new song (Video)

By Daniel S Levine,

If you love Green Day and you love to play Rovio’s Angry Birds game, then you will love this news. The band is teaming up with the makers of the game to promote their newest album, ¡Uno!.

MTV News reports that the Green Day edition of the new Angry Birds Friends series will have 10 brand new levels and special Green Day pigs that look like Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool. Plus, players will get a chance to unlock the ¡Uno! track “Troublemaker.”

In a statement, Armstrong admitted that even he is a fan of the highly addicting and popular game. “It's such an addictive game that when we first started playing it we couldn't stop.”

Armstrong, who will be guest mentor on NBC’s The Voice this fall, explained that working with Angry Birds is just part of the group’s plan to do whatever they have to do to get their music out.

“Everything's going to be coming from different directions. We really want to go viral with a lot of this stuff,” he told MTV. “Just whatever it takes to get the music out there.”

¡Uno! will be released on Sept. 25. The group has already released a few tracks, including “Oh Love” and “Kill The DJ.” It is the first part of a trilogy of albums the band will release over the next few months. The second is due out in November, with the third being released in January.
