Jennifer Lopez enters new stage of her life: ‘I’ve learned I can really survive things’

Jennifer Lopez is ready to enter a new stage in her career, following her split last year from husband Marc Anthony and her departure from American Idol, she said in a new interview. She is ready to focus on her thriving career as an entertainer and entrepreneur, while mixing in a little pleasure.

In her interview with InStyle, Lopez says that she lives by “the mantra that God doesn't give you anything you can't handle.”

“It's not until something bad or difficult happens that you really get to grow,” the 43-year-old “Dance Again” singer told the magazine. “You realize: There's no reason to be terrified of things. Either way I'm going to be OK.”

She adds that the secret to success is “finding balance ... You have to know what makes you happy – so your life is what you always dreamed it could be.”

Lopez, who is currently dating dancer Casper Smart, 25, also discussed what she looks for in a guy, noting that she likes “good guys.”

“The most important quality the man in my life should have is that he is sweet,” she said. “I like the good guys... The hard part is that you never stop believing in love. You never stop. But that's also the best part. You never stop believing, and you never, ever give up.”

InStyle also provided Lopez, who is now getting used to the role as single mom to her 4-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with a set of readers’ questions, including one about love. “The hard part is that you never stop believing in love,” she said. “You never stop.
