Pop diva Mariah Carey apparently despises the thought of working alongside Nicki Minaj at the American Idol judges table.
TMZ reported Carey, under the impression she was to be the only female judge, hung up the phone when hearing of Nicki’s Idol candidacy.
Minaj and Carey, two pop powerhouses, performed a duet together on the latter’s “Up Out of My Face.”
But apparently, Minaj doesn’t sit well with her.
US Weekly issued reports Monday that Minaj was a top pick for the empty spot.
A source close to the mag stated, “A few more things to sign off on but it’s happening.”
If Minaj were to join the team, that would make for to New York natives; Minaj from Queens and Carey from Long Island.
Randy Jackson is taking on a mentoring role, and famous names like Keith Urban and Pharell Williams have rumored to be taking his place.
The young, well-liked judges on rival shows The Voice and The X-Factor have caused American Idol producers to consider competitive matches.
