The recently released trailer of The Paperboy shows Nicole Kidman straddling actor Zac Efron and Efron is seen in nothing but his white undies.
Efron, 24, plays Matthew McConaughey’s brother, both of whom investigate the case of a death row inmate, played by John Cusack. Kidman plays the “trashy bleach-blonde woman” who seduces Efron, but is obsessed with marrying Cusack.
About 1 minute and 33 seconds into the trailer, Kidman, 45, wearing a black bra and underwear, straddles Efron, who is wearing underwear. In another segment, Kidman dances with Efron in the rain, who is, again, just wearing undies.
During a press conference in May, Efron said, “I don't think I was supposed to feel comfortable. It's like life. This character is supposed to be learning the ways of the world, and that can be very uncomfortable. But it's also exciting.”
And exciting to be acting alongside Kidman. “I've been in love with her for a long time, since Moulin Rouge,” he admitted. “It was the best opportunity in the world for me, and I loved every moment.”
Kidman revealed how she, as well, feels uncomfortable. “I may be uncomfortable watching the movie. But that's my job," she said. "I'd been looking as an actor for something raw and something dangerous in terms of performances and then this came along."
The Paperboy, directed by Oscar nominee Lee Daniels, is based on the novel by Pete Dexter and is set in Florida in 1969. It first debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and will be released worldwide on October 5.
