Joey Kovar, who appeared on MTV’s The Real World and later Celebrity Rehab, has died in Chicago. He was 29 years old.
Kovar’s rep told TMZ that a female friend found the reality star at her home near Chicago and saw him bleeding. She called 911 but authorities declared him dead at the scene.
“Joey was discovered by a female friend early this morning who noticed blood coming out of Joey’s ears and nose. The woman called 911 and authorities rushed to the scene where he was pronounced dead,” the rep’s statement read.
TMZ reports that family members believe that drugs are to blame for his death.
According to Zap2It, Kovar was on Real World: Hollywood in 2008. His castmates held an intervention to confront him about his alcohol abuse. He entered rehab during the season and had admitted that he dealt with alcohol and drug abuse for years.
Kovar then appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2010, during which he was being treated for cocaine and ecstasy use.
