Shia LaBeouf may have been asking for trouble when he confirmed that he will perform in the upcoming Lars Von Trier film, Nymphomaniac , which includes depicting real sex onscreen.
The New York Daily News revealed photos of the Transformers star and his girlfriend, Karolyn Pho, on a street in Los Angeles during an argument. Pho is in tears while LaBeouf appears upset about the exchange. Later, Pho denied that the 15-minute dispute had anything to do with her boyfriend’s upcoming role.
“It's none of anybody's business. Everything is fine with us. It was nothing affiliated with his movie. We're normal people who have normal lives,” she said.
While that may be true, the 26-year-old actor told MTV News that he is willing to do whatever the Danish director asks of him.
“[Von Trier] is very dangerous. He's the most dangerous dude that I've ever showed up for. I'm terrified. I'm so terrified, which is why I have to go. We'll see what happens.”
Nymphomaniac reportedly follows a woman throughout her life as she discovers her own erotic desires. Von Trier intends to make two versions of the film, one less explicit than the other. But the more explicit version will include unsimulated performances, even real sex.
“It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making,” LaBeouf told MTV. “For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening."
This isn’t the first role in which LaBeouf will appear naked onscreen. The Even Stevens star recently appeared fully nude in the music video of the song “Fjögur Píanó” for Icelandic group, Sigur Rós.
