Lawrence Krisna Parker is known as KRS-One, the New York born rapper who rose to fame in the late '80s as a founding member of Boogie Down Productions. KRS-One is credited with being one of the innovators of hip-hop music. His flow is aggressive and contains lyrics that are insightful and positive. Much of the time his rhymes focus on the importance of talent rather than the aesthetics, money and fame. Parker has written books and started non-profit organizations over the course of his career.
Robert Plant turns 64
Robert Plant is best known for his time as lead singer of Led Zeppelin. The band formed in 1969 and performed together until 1980. Robert Plant was born in Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. According to Rolling Stone, he became the singer for Led Zeppelin after being approached by Jimmy Page, the guitarist for a band that was in need of a vocalist. Along with John Bonham and John Paul Jones, they formed Led Zeppelin. Robert Plant’s role not only as a singer, but also a songwriter helped to create great success for Led Zeppelin. Today they are held as rock legends. Plant continues to create music through solo projects as well as collaborations.
