This Week In Facebook - New iPhone app makes mobile sharing faster

By Meghan Giannotta,

Facebook’s most recent update for their iPhone and iPad apps is said to be one you don’t want to miss.

Mark Zuckerberg posted on his Facebook Thursday saying that Facebook has just released a newer, faster version of the app.

“We just released a new Facebook app for iPhone and iPad and it’s a lot faster. Our team completely rewrote it from the ground up to focus on speed. It’s a big step forward,” Zuckerberg posted.

When downloading the new Facebook app upgrade, the first noticeable change is the way in which the home screen appears on your phone. While Facebook made some minor changes to appearance and settings, the main change was the ability to increase the speed at which users receive information. When new status updates are added to the users news feed, a pop up message appears saying how many new updates the user has. The user can then press the message and be automatically taken to the new statuses posted just seconds before.

While Facebook users had many positive things to say about this new upgrade, comments have been made on the post about further upgrades they desire. Many people want there to be a way to share posts from your phone and the ability to tag people while writing a mobile post without saying you are with them.

In recent Facebook news, Zuckerberg has also posted news that he will be working with Frank Gehry to design a new campus for the Facebook office. His idea is to design a giant room that fits thousands of people who will be able to collaborate easier and work all together.

Included in Zuckerberg’s new floor plans is to incorporate a roof that has a park on top of it with a walking trail, a field and places to sit. He wants his office to appear to be a hill in nature when looked at from the outside.
