The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the important Oscar dates to remember going into the upcoming awards season, and they are earlier than usual.
According to The Hollywood Reporter the nominations will be announced on January 10 with the actual ceremony taking place on February 24.
Last year, the nominees were announced on January 24. The Los Angeles Times reported that the sooner announcement time is to give Academy members, as well as the public, more time to view the nominated films.
Other major Oscar dates include the deadline for the films on November 30, the Governors Awards presentation on December 1, the Nominee Luncheon on February 4 and the presentation of the Scientific and Technical Awards on February 9.
Voting for the nominees runs from December 17 to January 3 while final voting runs from February 8 to 19.
This year marks the 85th annual Academy Awards. With the Toronto International Film Festival now over, the Oscar race has some clearer contenders.
