Apple has sent out invitations to the media for a Sept. 12 event and many are predicting that it will be to announce a new iPhone.
TechCrunch writer Peter Ha and The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple are among those who have received the invitation, which simply reads “It’s almost here” and has “12” in big numbers. The numbers also have a shadow, which looks like a “5,” as many have noticed.
According to The Huffington Post, Apple did confirm that new products will be shown during the event and the new iPhone is expected to be the marquee product. The new iPhone is predicted to be thinner and taller than previous iPhones and could feature a 4.0-inch screen.
It will also have 4G LTE capability and iOS6. The iPhone 4S is currently one of the few phones on the market that can’t connect with the 4G data network and this will certainly change with the new iPhone.
Reuters reports that there have also been rumors of a smaller iPad being unveiled, but there have been no signs to confirm that.
iMore first reported that Apple would have a Sept. 12 event back in July and later confirmed that pre-orders will begin that day. The iPhone 5 will be available in the US on Sept. 21 and international launches are set for Oct. 5.
The Sept. 12 event will be held at Apple’s usual location for events, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
