Billie Joe Armstrong bursts into outrage over shortened set time at iHeart Radio Fest

By Mallory Hatten,

Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong had a major ranting session in front of thousands of iHeart Radio Music Festival guests after the band’s set was cut 20 minutes short.

According to blogger Perez Hilton, the singer began yelling curse words on stage when the teleprompter began notifying the performers that they only had four mintues left on stage. After singing their hit song Basket Case, the teleprompter flashed the one-minute cue, and that’s when Armstrong burst into an intense, f-bomb filled outrage targeted towards the producers who made the time cut.

Armstrong yelled countless obscenities, including a jab at pop singer Justin Bieber, before smashing his guitar to pieces at walking off stage.

UPROXX.com reports that Green Day’s set was cut in half in order to give previous performer, Usher, more time on stage. While this kind of thing isn’t uncommon for music festivals, the fact that Armstrong wasn’t told made him fly off the handle in a wild fury.

The 40-year-old rocker’s public temper tantrum did little to the audience other than make them laugh. Even the camera crew was trying to contain their smiles, amidst the utter shock of what was happening.
