Green Day vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong returns to Los Angeles Tuesday after health issues in Italy over Labor Day Weekend.
The band canceled its performance in Bologna after Armstrong was rushed to the hospital.
Band members Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt released a video on YouTube explaining and apologizing for the cancellation.
"We apologize profusely," Dirnt said in the video. "Billie got rushed to the hospital last night due to illness. The doctors don't think it's a good idea for him to play today."
Drummer Cool continued saying, "We're beyond devastated, we're as sad as you guys are. Billie is extremely upset about it.”
The video now features a pop-up text that reads, "Billie is better again :)"
A video from TMZ shows Armstrong leaving the hospital in Italy and mouthing, “My voice is gone.”
According to MTV a spokesperson for the band confirmed Tuesday evening that Armstrong will be ready to perform at the VMAs Thursday and that the band will attend their rehearsal Wednesday.
