Hollywood received some sad news today as it has been revealed that Bonnie Franklin has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
USA Today reports that the 68-year-old One Day at a Time actress has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
According to TVguide.com, a spokesperson for the family released a statement noting that Franklin would “continue with her normal schedule,” also stating, “she and her family remain extremely positive and thank everyone for their support and concern. Respect for her privacy is greatly appreciated.”
TV Guide notes that Franklin played single mom Ann Romano, mother to Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips’ characters. Phillips took to Twitter Monday to tweet her support to her former costar. She writes, “Sending out love and sweet prayers to my "mom". The incomparable Bonnie Franklin.”
Outside of One Day at a Time, Franklin lent her talent to such projects as Sister Margaret and the Sunday Night Ladies, Burke’s Law, Almost Perfect, Touched By An Angel and series of roles in Hot in Cleveland and The Young and the Restless.
