Casting news for Fox’s ‘New Girl’

Jamie Lee Curtis, Rob Reiner, Rob Riggle, and Carla Gugino are joining the second season of the comedy New Girl.

The quirky lead character of New Girl, Jess, will be introducing her divorced parents to her roommates in the Thanksgiving episode reports Entertainment Weekly. Curtis (A Fish Called Wanda) will be playing her mother, Joan, and Reiner (All in the Family) will be playing her father Bob. Jess is unhappy about their relationship and wants to try and bring them back together in a way reminiscent of the Parent Trap.

Riggle (21 Jump Street) is playing Schmidt’s cousin and rival, who is also named Schmidt. He will be appearing in the Thanksgiving episode as well according to TV Line.

Gugino (Entourage) will be playing Schmidt’s new boss, Emma. Emma and Schmidt will enter into a contract that binds Schmidt to Emma in a sexual manner according to Entertainment Weekly. Gugino is slated to appear in three episodes of the show.

Season two of New Girl premiers on Tuesdays, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
