‘DWTS’ judge Carrie Ann Inaba calls off engagement

By Daniel S Levine,

Carrie Anna Inaba, a judge on ABC’s dancing competition Dancing with the Stars, and her fiance, accountant Jesse Sloan, have called off their engagement.

Inaba’s rep confirmed the news in a statement to People. “They decided early in the summer to break off their engagement and have remained friends,” the rep stated.

Us Weekly reports that Inaba and Sloan became engaged in March 2011, when he proposed to her on TV on Live! With Regis and Kelly.

The proposal was a complete surprise to Inaba, who met Sloan on eHarmony. She said that she did not post a picture of herself, when she told Access Hollywood how they met.

“I said [in my match questionnaire], 'You need to be sexy' and 'I love cats,’” she said. “He was the one they sent me, and it just felt familiar...[Looking at] his picture, I felt like I already knew him.”

She also told People in April 2011 that they planned on a wedding near the ocean.. “I'd like to get married sooner rather than later,” she said at the time. “He's the right person, and I just have this feeling of let's just keep moving forward.

“We know we want to get married by the ocean because it has such a spiritual meaning. It's so vast and yet it unites everyone...We want everybody to get their feet wet in the water after we say our vows.”

Inaba will be a judge on the new season of DWTS, which will feature returning contestants. The new season starts on Sept. 24.
