Emma Stone opened up to director Cameron Crowe for a recent spread in Interview magazine where the starlet dished about her career and her former name - Riley.
According to Fan Share, Stone said when she was just 16-years-old, she had to register for a SAG card. The star’s real name, Emily Stone, was already taken, prompting the Crazy, Stupid, Love actress to get creative. “I was like, ‘I can be whatever I want to be. What name do I want to have?’ So I went through a list of names and picked Riley,” Stone said.
The actress went on to say that she ended up having an identity crisis. “I had a guest part on Malcolm in the Middle, and everyone kept on yelling ‘Riley!’ and I didn’t know who they were talking to. So I had to change my professional name to Emma, which my mom always called me.”
The New York Daily News reports that the redhead beauty attributes her funny side to her parents, saying that their love for comedic entertainment “rubbed off on me.”
Aside from her successful career, Stone is currently dating Social Network star Andrew Garfield. The couple co-starred in this year’s box office hit Spiderman.
