Reality star Kim Kardashian had expressed that she was shooting for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has shot down her request.
In an interview with V Magazine, Kardashian said that since she’s so competitive, she would "love to break that mold” of becoming the first reality star to get a star on the Walk of Fame.
"Part of criteria in being honored is receiving awards such as Emmy’s, SAG Awards, Oscars etc. in the category of Television, Live Stage Performance or Motion Pictures," said a rep for the Chamber of Commerce, The Hollywood Reporter reports. "They have to have a career in the business of acting for five years or more."
Kardashian, who appears in her family’s reality shows, has had acting roles in television’s Drop Dead Diva and Tyler Perry’s film The Marriage Counselor.
The rep concluded "Can’t really say if reality stars will ever be eligible. Not on our radar right now."
Hollyscoop reports that Kardashian’s full quote was “I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold.”
So far, no reality star has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
