James Brolin has been cast as Jeff Winger's estranged father on NBC's cult hit Community for their upcoming fourth season.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Brolin will appear in the episode titled Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations which will see Jeff (Joel McHale) forced to face his father at Thanksgiving dinner.
Joel McHale hinted at the news this morning on his Twitter account by posting a picture of the two together on set.
The plotline was first teased in last spring’s finale as Jeff sat in front of his laptop searching for his father.
Brolin has previously won an Emmy and two Golden Globes for his work on Marcus Welby M.D. back in the late 1960s.
The fate of Community is a bit in question as NBC only ordered 13 episodes for the upcoming season and moved it to the death sentence Friday night timeslot.
The show received yet another blow when series creator, Dan Harmon, was fired last summer.
Harmon has been replaced with David Guarascio and Moses Port who have assured fans they will not “mess it up."
Community is set to premiere Friday October 19th at 8:30/7:30c.
