Katie Holmes named first celebrity face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

Katie Holmes has been busy since breaking up with Tom Cruise, taking on as many career-boosting opportunities as she can. Her latest new job is the first celebrity face of cosmetics giant Bobbi Brown.

E! News reports that the company announced that the Batman Begins actress will work with Bobbi Brown to create new products and will appear in print ads. The first ads will appear for the spring 2013 collection.

“Bobbi is exceptionally talented and Bobbi Brown cosmetics is a company that we, as women, all turn to because it is makeup that is very accessible and makes you feel pretty,” Holmes said in a statement. “Sometimes it is just a lipstick or a blush that makes you feel like you can do what you need to do. Makeup is powerful and I am thrilled to be a part of this brand.”

She also spoke to Women’s Wear Daily after signing the deal. “When you go in and you show your clothing, you think that they’re going to buy the whole collection,” she laughed when talking about what still surprises her about the retail world. “And when they don’t, you’re like, ‘What do you mean? It all goes together. So what do we do with this?’ So that was new, but I think that’s kind of a life thing — ‘What, you don’t want all of me?’”

Holmes kept the interview focused on her new label with Jeanne Yang, Holmes & Yang, and didn’t answer anything about her personal life or Suri, her and Cruise’s 6-year-old daughter, reports USA Today. Holmes was asked if Suri will start school in the fall and would only say, “They'll find out in due time.”

On Wednesday, Holmes will be having her first formal New York Fashion Week presentation to show off items from the Holmes & Yang collection.

The collection is “very simple, with very classic lines. We use a lot of silks and leathers and suedes,” she said. “This year, we're excited because we've incorporated a lot of new trims. It's basically pieces that have evolved from basics, but not too far. They're just nice, well-made luxury items that highlight the woman wearing them.”
