The members of the dance duo LMFAO, who scored a hit with “Party Rock Anthem” and the album Party Rock in 2009, are calling it quits, at least for the time being.
In an interview with News.com.au, Redfoo, whose real name is Stefan Kendal Gordy, said he and his nephew, SkyBlu (Skylar Gordy) are going in “different directions” musically at the moment and he’s not sure when they’ll get back together.
“I feel like we've been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we're kind of like saying, well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time,” Redfoo, the son of Motown founder Berry Gordy, told the site in a phone interview this week.
According to USA Today, Redfoo said that they will be working on separate projects. He has a line of tennis clothing in the works and is a tennis coach. He is working on a song for the New England Patriots, as well. “I'm actually working on a song for them, because they asked me to write a song for their season.”
There will also be more party music in the future.
“All the music that I'm going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish ... I love all the topics that we talk about,” Redfoo said. “I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”
“I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we're always family...He'll always be my nephew, I'll always be his uncle.”
While we don’t know how long it will be until we hear from LMFAO again, there’s always time to enjoy this again:
