'Melissa and Joey' Recap: Summer Finale

In tonight’s summer finale of Melissa and Joey, there was no shortage of drama and shocking moments!!

Last time, Joe’s Russian girlfriend, Elena, was around and making waves with Mel and the family. Mel disliked Elena because she felt she was getting in the way of Joe’s work. Ryder helped Lennox with a study she was doing at school. And at the end, Elena’s business in Russia was caught in a scandal, and as soon as she returns home, she would be arrested. In order to save her, Joe decides to marry her and make her a U.S. Citizen.

This week, wedding plans are in the works as Elena and Joe’s quickie nuptials are approaching fast!

Mel questions Joe on his plan and tells him it is a stupid idea. He tells her he was just trying to save her and be like a superhero. Mel tells him she doesn’t want to be involved in a scandal, but he explains he is just trying to help, but instead he just makes it obvious he thinks Elena is hot. Joe urges Mel to just think about it.

Mel tries to defrost food, but Joe comes in and tells them it’s just an ice pack he uses for his injury, instead he pulls out a casserole for them. Lennox asks him if he got the marriage license, but city hall told him to come back.

Mel tries to vent to Lennox about the situation, but Lennox thinks Joe is doing a really good thing by helping Elena.

Ryder found a website about how to make the fake wedding real, but Mel tells him she doesn’t want to be involved at all, but she picks out the wedding invitation. Elena interrupts and Ryder is taken aback by her beauty and stops talking mid sentence. All of a sudden, an agent from immigration comes and everyone freaks out. Ryder has Elena go hide in his room and Mel says she can’t lie, but Lennox decides she can. He questions them on the wedding license because of Elena’s visa and Joe’s past in business. Mel tells the agent she doesn’t know Joe that well. The agent tells Mel that if they are involved they will be in trouble. Mel and Lennox try to prove Elena and Joe’s love is real. She decides to tell the agent that she is officiating the wedding to prove it’s legitimacy.

Elena is ecstatic that Mel will marry them, but she needs a real dress now. Mel pulls out her wedding dress she bought years ago and lets Elena wear it. Mel explains that she was engaged once, but she realized he wasn’t the one to marry. Mel asks them to keep the wedding between them.

Joe comes in to find Mel and Elena talking and asks what happened with the agent. Elena explains that Mel will marry them and defended Joe, and he thanks her for her help.

Mel’s assistant comes up to Mel and tells her that she always thought Mel and Joe would get married. Mel explains to Stephanie that it is all fake.

Mel goes to Joe before the wedding and wishes him luck.

The wedding starts to happen, and Ryder is giving Elena away and Stephanie is filming everything for proof. Mel starts to officiate the wedding, but Joe and Elena start to act like they really want to be married and Mel freaks out a bit. She skips ahead and objects to the wedding. She pulls Joe to the side and he tells her no one gets hurt this way.

Mel pronounces them man and wife. She rushes off to her office as Joe and Elena have their first kiss. She is upset.

At home, Mel is packing up her wedding dress when Lennox interrupts to see if she is okay. Mel explains she doesn’t need Joe. Joe calls her to ask where Elena is because she got a phone call and left him at the hotel. Mel tries to reassure him that things are okay. Mel decides to go look for Elena to help Joe.

She goes to the hotel and tells Joe she can’t find Elena. Elena comes back to Joe with a suitcase and tells Joe she needs to return to Russia to testify. Elena confesses that she is not truly in love with him and he is upset with the situation. She kisses him goodbye and leaves for the airport.

Mel tries to comfort Joe after Elena leaves, and he explains that he really thought she was the right person. He then says that maybe the third wedding will be the one that sticks.

At home, Joe gets a call from his first ex wife, Tiffany, asking him to change a tire for her. He decides to go save her, like he saved Elena.
