Michael Fassbender has been cast in an upcoming movie called Frank . The actor is currently filming The Counselor in London and according to Heat Celebrity News was spotted recently dancing the night away with Cameron Diaz. Frank is a movie about a musician and will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson. Fassbender has said in interviews that he once aspired to be a heavy metal rock star. The actor can sing and showcased his voice on MTV in Europe when X-Men: First Class opened in theatres in June 2011.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Frank is a comedy that also stars Domhnall Gleeson as Jon, an aspiring musician who joins Fassbender in a pop band. Fassbender will play the leader of the group, who is a dark and mysterious character often accompanied by a puppet. The role is said to be inspired by Frank Sidebottom, the Greater Manchester puppet with a large head made from papier-mache. Frank was a fixture on British television during the 1980s and 1990s and was also known for his singer-songwriter abilities.
Fassbender is expected to begin filming Frank later this year after he wraps his current projects. So far, it appears that the actor will not be slowing down any time soon. Despite his comments that he would take a year off it seems that Hollywood has other ideas. Fassbender will also reprise his Erik Lenscherr/Magneto character in 2013 when the sequel to X-Men: First Class starts filming.
