By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Modern Family’s own Eric Stonestreet was asked to leave a Los Angeles Dodgers game after the actor got in a heated discussion with a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

TMZ reports that a witness spotted Stonestreet and a fellow baseball fan engaging in a heated conversation after the Cardinal fan was heckling a player from the opposing team. According to the report, the two men exchanged words, but there was never any indication that a fight would ensue. However, the men were both escorted from the game and asked to not return.

Stonestreet will return with his Modern Family cast mates, Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Brown, Ty Burrell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson for season four of the hit program, which airs on September 26.

Stonestreet stars as Cameron Tucker; his other credits include roles in Almost Famous, Bad Teacher and The Island. He will take on roles in Identity Theft and The Loft, in 2013, as well as a The Day the Laughter Stopped.
