Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order) will be playing Scott Welker, an artistic director of a theater company. His character will have history with a few other characters, reports Deadline. Martin is no stranger to musicals, he was in the original cast of the musical Rent.
Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me) is joining the program as a love interest for Debra Messing’s character in the show, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) is playing a character named Terrence Falls, a comedy actor in both films and television, according to Deadline. He will be an annoyance for certain characters, including Ivy Lynn played by actress Megan Hilty. Hayes is also appearing in a few episodes of Up All Night’s second season. He is also executive producing episodes of NBC’s Grimm.
Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) will also be appearing in season 2.
Smash will be returning to NBC in 2013.
