Nicolas Cage remains one of the busiest actors in the business. Just a few days after he landed the lead in David Gordon Green’s Joe, Cage landed another role in I Am Wrath, which will be produced by Emmett/Furla Films.
Deadline reports that French Connection director William Friedkin is interested in doing the film as his follow-up to Killer Joe.
Paul Sloan penned the script, which is based on an idea from Yvan Gauthier. As Indiewire notes, the film centers on a man whose wife is murdered, so he becomes a vigilante, trying to get the killers and expose the corrupt police department.
Lionsgate will be releasing the film and production starts in January. Emmett/Furla, which produced the upcoming On Frozen Ground with Cage and Vanessa Hudgens, will co-produce with rapper 50 Cent’s Cheetah Vision, Barry Brooker & Stan Wertlieb of Grindstone Films and Vallelonga Productions’ Nick Vallelonga, Richard Salvatore & David Omston.
The news comes a few days after Cage was cast in Joe, which will be directed by The Pineapple Express director Gordon Green.
Cage has a slew of films in the works, including Kick Ass 2, West Side, Marble City and a third National Treasure film.
