Fans of the green tank of fury, Hulk, have endured watching two semi-successful attempts at starting a Hulk franchise with actors Eric Bana and Edward Norton. However, Mark Ruffalo’s portrayal in The Avengers was a crowd-pleaser and seems likely to stick. However, Marvel Studios president confirmed that fans will have to wait quite a while for a standalone Hulk film.
Collider reported the news that Feige confirmed the studio will not complete a Hulk film until after the sequel to The Avengers comes out in May 1st, 2015.
Feige explained to MTV News “Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in ‘Avengers?’ I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could. We certainly are not even going to attempt that until ‘Avengers 2.’ So there’s a lot of time to think about it.”
There are plenty of story lines that one can cover in a Hulk film, but “Planet Hulk” and “World War Hulk” seem to be the ones that Feige like the most. “‘Planet Hulk’ is a cool story. ‘World War Hulk’ is a cool story. I think there’s pitfalls of continuity-overload, and mythology getting so dense that it almost collapses in on itself. It happens every few decades or so in the comics. Apart from that, I’d say everything is on the table.”
For those who are unfamiliar in “Planet Hulk” the green giant is a rebel leader on some alien planet and he sports a gladiator style get-up as seen in the picture above.
In “World War Hulk” a superhero group called “The Illuminati,” which includes Iron Man and Professor X, banishes Hulk from earth. The spacecraft used to exile the Hulk from earth explodes killing Hulk’s pregnant wife Caiera. The enraged Hulk returns to earth with some new allies and with one thing on his mind: revenge.
What do you think? Should Marvel wait that long to come out with a Hulk movie? Will Mark Ruffalo even stick around long enough to play the Hulk? What storyline would you like to see in a Hulk movie? Leave you comments below.
