Following a fundraiser in New York City Tuesday, President Barack Obama took time to praise one of the event’s organizers, music star Beyonce Knowles, who organized it with her husband Jay-Z.
"Beyoncé could not be a better role model for my girls. We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard, but it's okay,” he said, according to Extra.
The fundraiser was at the city’s 40/40 Club. It cost $40,000 per person.
The event raised $4 million for the President’s re-election campaign.
“Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they're not here,” Obama said in his praise of Beyonce, according to CNN.
Before it began, Obama was a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman.
"One of the things I learned as President is you represent the entire country. If you want to be President, you have to work for everyone,” Obama said in regard to comments made by his challenger, Republican Mitt Romney, over the ’47 percent’ of those who do not pay income tax.
