At a Tuesday fundraiser put on by Jay-Z and Beyonce, President Obama took time to thank the power couple with a personal speech. In it, the President made comments comparing the similarities between him and the New York rap artist.
According to Politico, President Obama took time to acknowledge both Jay-Z and Beyonce in addition to the standard expectations of a presidential campaign speech. The couple put on a fundraiser that 100 people attended; at a cost of $40,000 per head.
"We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are," Obama said. "So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's okay."
According to CNN, President Obama took time to praise Beyonce individually during the fundraiser.
"Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls."
Beyonce had earlier taken time to introduce Obama saying that the couple believed in his vision for the country.
After the celebrity comments, Obama began illustrating the sense of urgency that has swept the country in this very close Presidential Election.
“We’re on the brink of an election, but more importantly , we’re on the brink of moving America in a direction where we’re going to be more just, more fair," Obama said. "The economy’s going to grow...we’re putting forward our best values and our best ideals.”
To conclude the speech, the President again alluded back to Jay-Z and Beyonce saying,
"To J and B, thank you so much for your friendship."
He ended with a humorous note, stating, "Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they aren't here."
