'Saturday Night Live's' new castmembers for the 2012-2013 Season

By Chris Baggiano,
Out goes the old and in comes the new

With the departures of longtime stalwart Kristen Wiig, digital shorts guru Andy Samberg, and celebrity impression extraordinaire Abby Elliot (soon to be on CBS's How I Met Your Mother), Saturday Night Live decided to break in three new cast members for the upcoming season, all hailing from Chicago's (and SNL favorite) The Second City theater. Before we get into the three new cast members, here's a video of one of Jimmy Fallon's auditions for the show just to see what prospective cast members must go through.

Tim Robinson
Tim has been a longtime member of various troupes connected with Second City in both his native Detroit, Michigan as well as with the main theater in Chicago. His main improv teams are Cook County Social Club and My Mans for Chicago's iO Theater.

Aidy Bryant
Aidy is a member of quite a few improve teams including Virgin Daiquiri at iO Theater and Baby Wants Candy. She was a contributing writer and actor for the Jeff Award (awards for live theater in the Chicago-land area) winning musical Sky's the Limit (Weather Permitting). She does a lot of musical based improv so it'd be a shock not to see her sing a little bit during her time at SNL. She also has a very spartan website that features a few videos. Below is an example of her non-musical humor.

Cecily Strong
Cecily, like the other two new cast members, has performed for Second City and the iO Theater as well as ImprovOlympic. She is a member of Virgin Daiquiri, so her and Aidy might have some strong chemistry right out of the gate.

Don't expect to see much of these new cast members early on. In fact, unless they have a spot on impression they will probably only be bit actors for most of the season. Be sure to check back here for a review of every episode of the upcoming season of SNL.
