Teen sensation Selena Gomez is set to appear in an upcoming special of Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place.
According to MTV News the 20-year-old starlet will appear in the one-hour special, which is scheduled to premiere in early 2013. Gomez will reunite with co-stars Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera, Jake T. Austin, David DeLuise and Gregg Sulkin, who all helped make the television series an Emmy-winning fan favorite.
But Gomez admits that returning to the show is bittersweet. “I’m working on my new record and I had great projects I was a part of this year, but Wizards and Disney Channel and everything that is a part of this is my home. I’m not ready for it to be over, so I just kind of want to do one more thing,” the starlet told Radio Disney.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the final installment of the popular franchise will follow the Russo family on a trip to Tuscany to visit their long-lost relatives. But the trip takes an unexpected twist when Gomez’s character, Alex, becomes the subject of spell gone wrong, creating a second version of Alex – an evil twin.
Gomez also has another big film debut in 2013, but not quite so Disney-esque. The starlet is expected to wow audiences as she takes on a raunchy, adult role in the upcoming flick Spring Breakers.
