Ten of the best SNL skits

By Danielle Costa,

Saturdays are one of the best days of the week! Not only do they rock because it’s the weekend and you can literally do whatever you want, but also because Saturdays are the night of Saturday Night Live! SNL has some of the best skits of all time, and personally I am a super fan of them all!

It was so hard trying to pick ten skits, and these are just a small variety of the amazing skits from the history of Saturday Night Live. I have about 20 more amazing skits I can think of off of the top of my head, but this list is just an assortment of some of the different skits throughout the years. Enjoy ten of the best SNL skits!

10. Boston Kids- Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Dratch as the crazy Boston couple who are ridiculously in love and film their lives via camcorder is so insane that it’s amazing. They stop every five seconds to make out and their over the top Boston accents and love for Nomar Garciaparra is hilarious!

9. Schweaty Balls- Alec Baldwin is one of the people who has hosted SNL the most. He is always on with new and interesting sketches and they are always memorable. Schweaty Balls is all about his meat ball shop, they just happen to be called Schweaty Balls, which can be misconstrued in many different ways. The result? A skit with a lot of double meaning and hilarious innuendos.

8. Spartan Cheerleaders- Will Ferrel and Cheri Oteri take school spirit to a whole other level! This one never gets old and watching Will Ferrel be a cheerleader is just what you need to cheer yourself up on a sad day!

7. D*** in a Box- This one is a newer one and a digital short and it is so classic that it has to be thrown in there! Justin Timberlake plus Andy Samberg in goatees and sunglasses singing a ridiculous song about what girls want for Christmas...everything about that sounds epic! I’m not going to lie I can pretty much sing the entire thing by heart, and I regret nothing!

6. Mary Katherine Gallagher- Played by Molly Shannon from 1994 to 2001, this overly enthusiastic Catholic school girl never fails to bring the funny and the disaster. This skit was so classic, it even went on to be made into a movie. To this day, Superstar is one of the most ridiculously awesome things ever! “SUPERSTAR!”

5. Tina Fey as Sarah Palin-In one of THE best political impressions on the show. Tina Fey kills it as Sarah Palin every time! She has the accent down pat and she looks so much like Sarah Palin, that sometimes I even forget I am watching SNL! During the 2008 election, the world was in an uproar and this skit brought everyone back down to earth!

4. Dana Carvey as The Church Lady- These skits are hilarious as Dana Carvey as The Church Lady hosts a talk show where she bashes her guests because of their sins. It is so funny as she takes her sometimes A-list guests and rips them a new one!

3. Chippendales with Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley- What could be better than chippendales dancers? Partrick Swayze and Chris Farley dancing, that’s what! The dancers are auditioning for a spot in the popular dance joint, and with those moves, I can’t see anyone who wouldn’t want to see them go!

2. The Chanukah Song- Adam Sandler is always amazing and when he was on SNL back in the day he came on to Weekend Update and sang a little song about Chanukah. The song was all about the people who are Jewish, just like him, and it a hilarious take on the holiday and the famous people who celebrate it. I’m not Jewish, but this is BY FAR the one Holiday song I look forward to hearing EVERY year!!

1. Wayne’s World-”Wayne’s World, Wayne’s World, Party Time, Excellent!” That theme song will forever be engraved in my mind and so will this skit and the movie that followed! Mike Myers is awesome and his rock obsessed alter ego with his own basement cable show was just as epic! This one is hilarious and the movie made me love blasting “Bohemian Rhapsody” in my car like no other!

There are so many amazing skits and many more to come with the new season just having started up! What SNL skit is your favorite from the past?
