Actress Alex Kingston is joining CBS’s NCIS for an episode in November.
Kingston (ER) will be playing Miranda Pennebaker, who according to executive producer Gary Glasberg is a “woman of questionable morals,” reported TV Line .
Glasberg says Pennebaker “deals in everything from high end weapons sales to priceless gems. Her connections go all the way up the ladder of D.C. politics, and Gibbs needs her for this very disturbing, emotional case.”
Glasberg says he greatly enjoys the character, and Kingston who “embodies everything I hoped for from this character.” He says Kingston may return to the show at some point.
The Daily Beast reported Kingston is appearing in the second season of Upstairs Downstairs where she is playing a lesbian character, Dr. Blanche Mottershead. She is an archaeologist and a very modern thinker. Mottershead will undergo a scandal when an ex-lover publishes steamy books based on their time together.
Kingston recently appeared in her first episode of season 7 of Doctor Who as River Song. Kingston first appeared on the show in season 4.
NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Upstairs Downstairs is premiering on PBS’s Masterpiece on Sunday, October 7 at 9 p.m. ET.
