Actor Billy Crystal discusses his role in Monsters University, the prequel to Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.
Crystal is reprising his role as the small, green, one-eyed monster Mike Wazowski in the prequel according to the Hollywood Reporter .
“He’s my favorite character I’ve ever played,” Crystal declares.
This movie will focus on the characters at an earlier point in their lives, Crystal states: “This time, they’re in college -- 17 and 18 years old -- they made us look younger, and I have a retainer. It’s how they discover who they are.”
This movie focuses on how Mike and Sulley (played by John Goodman) go to college and end up working in the mail room of Monsters, Inc., the place they both work in the original movie.
The Monsters University website for the movie is brilliant and looks better than many real colleges’ websites. The site is filled with fun tidbits about the university and the students. They even have a map of the campus, which features a troll bridge, of course. There is also a fully functional online store.
A 3D version of Monsters, Inc. is slated to be released in theaters on December 19.
According to the Huffington Post, Bob Whitehill, the stereoscopic supervisor for Pixar, says 3D helps the audience see moments in the movie in a different light: “You now get a sense of how truly huge the Door Hangar is. Which makes Mike and Sulley's quest -- to find Boo's specific door and then get her home safely -- seem that much more impossible.”
Monsters University is slated for June 21, 2013 release.
