The only daughter of the late Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, will inherit $20 million.
Bobbi Kristina, whose father is Bobby Brown, will start to receive the inheritance money in two years’ time, much to the dismay of her grandmother Cissy Houston and her aunt, Pat Houston.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that there was a legal battle going on behind the scenes between the family members and the executors of Houston’s estate, with Cissy and Pat arguing that Bobbi Kristina, 19, wouldn’t spend the money in a responsible manner.
Ultimately, Cissy and Pat gave in, and Bobbi Kristina will inherit 10 percent of the fortune on her 21st birthday, 20 percent of it on her 25th birthday and the remaining money on her 30th birthday.
The Huffington Post reports that while on The View recently, Pat explained that they’re working on getting Bobbi Kristina in a good place after her mother’s passing in February.
“She’s not in trouble as it relates to drinking,” she said. “I had concern sitting there watching her. I don’t like it at all. But this was her reality, even before her mother passed. I don’t like it, but we’re working on it. She’s growing…we’re seeing her more; we’re dealing with life management skills as it relates to Bobbi Kristina.”
The family documents their struggles with the iconic singer's passing on Lifetime's The Houstons: All On Our Own.
