Blade Runner actor, Rutger Hauer, will join the cast of True Blood in the upcoming season 6 of HBO’s vampire drama.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the icy blue-eyed actor will become a regular on the series.
Although details surrounding Hauer’s character are scarce, according to TV Line, the 68-year-old actor will play Macklyn, who has a deep connection to Sookie Stackhouse, played by Anna Paquin, and Jason Stackhouse, played by Ryan Kwanten.
On the fifth season of True Blood, which was creator Alan Ball’s final season, Sookie and Jason plunged into the mystery of who killed their parents. A vampire named Warlow seemed to be the one behind their murder, but the addition of Hauer begs the question of whether Macklyn had a role in their demise.
Along with Blade Runner and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Dutch actor received a Golden Globe in 1988 for his role in Escape From Sobibor.
The sixth season of the HBO hit series will return in June of 2013.
