Pop star Christina Aguilera isn’t afraid of getting older, admitting that she loves the feeling of being mature and curvaceous, as well as how it feels to be a mother to four-year-old son Max.
People caught up with Aguilera to discuss aging, being a 31-year-old mom and where she plans on taking her career next, as the singer confirmed she is leaving The Voice at season’s end for a break.
“Some people are afraid of change and [feel] that getting older is a bad thing,” Aguilera said. “But I really love maturing and gaining wisdom.” The singer went on to say that giving birth also shapes a woman into who she is. “The experience of being pregnant and having a child and seeing what a woman’s body can do is amazing,” Aguilera revealed.
As for her curvy figure, the Burlesque star said if you like it, fine. If you don’t, that’s fine, too. “I embrace my body, and I embrace everything about myself,” Aguilera said. “Take it or leave it, this is who I am.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Aguilera is set to release her fifth full-length album, titled Lotus, on November 13, teaming up with The Voice co-stars Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton, as well as producer Max Martin.
Aguilera described the latest work as a “labor of love” that took “a long road” to create.
