After having its original return date of October 19 canceled, the fourth season of Community starring Joel McHale, Donald Glover, and Chevy Chase seemed to have an uncertain future. However earlier today, the return date was finally announced.
According to the Washington Post, the fourth season of Community will air Thursday, February 7th at 8 p.m.
Since 30 Rock is in its final season and set to conclude at the end of the fall, it makes sense that the critically acclaimed Community would takeover its time slot.
Show show's push back was likely due to the record high ratings NBC has been experiencing. According to Radio and Television Business Report, NBC was the number one network for the 18-49 demographic for five straight weeks. This was the best ratings the network had seen in 10 years. Furthermore, the network had an incredible 24 percent increase in ratings from last year.
With Community set to return this winter, the high viewership may carry over to the spring. Community could be NBC's saving grace, with The Office and 30 Rock ending.
