Miley Cyrus and Nick Jonas officially went their separate ways in 2009 after a few years of dating on-and-off, but a new song he wrote, “Wedding Bells,” has many speculating that he wrote the new tune about Miley.
The Jonas Brothers are working on new music and they debuted three new songs during a reunion concert on Thursday night at Radio City Music Hall. One of the songs made Nick Jonas “uncomfortable.”
“You have to write a song and apologize for it later," Nick told the crowd before performing the song. "I don't know that I've ever written a song that makes me as uncomfortable as this song does. And although it's not the way I feel at this moment in time, hopefully this gives you a glimpse into what the experience was like for me."
According to MTV News, besides the title, there are a few clues within the song lyrics that may confirm the speculation that the song is about Cyrus,19, who is now engaged to boyfriend of nearly three years, Liam Hemsworth.
In the song Jonas, now 20, talks about a June ceremony. Miley has repeatedly assured media and fans that she and Liam are taking their time with wedding plans, but of course, Miley announced her engagement in June.
Nick sings, “Can you keep a secret?/ A ceremony's set for June/ I know it's a rush, but I just love him so much/ I hope that you can meet him soon."
Nick and Miley, better known as "Niley," also have a special connection to the month of June. There is one line in the song that may be a dead giveaway that the song is about her.
Zimbio reports that Miley Cyrus had revealed in her autobiography, Miles to Go that she met her “Prince Charming” on June 11, 2006.
"I remember the exact date, June 11, 2006. It was the day I met my first love. Let's call him Prince Charming. I don't want to use his name, because this isn't about who he is or what I meant to him,” she wrote. “It's about how I felt and what our relationship meant to me."
In the song “Wedding Bells,” Nick sings, "If you recall our anniversary falls/ Eleven nights into June."
Nick will likely let the speculation continue, but listen to the song and Jonas’ speech below to judge for yourself:
