Seth MacFarlane signs on for the Oscars

Seth MacFarlane seems to be on top of the world. After signing a $100 million dollar deal with Fox, the Family Guy creator has just added another accolade to his incredible year: MacFarlane will host the 2013 Academy Awards.

According to The Associated Press, the show will be put on by first time Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. Both the producers and MacFarlane are excited to be involved with the event.

"My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast," said MarFarlane.

According to the New York Times, MacFarlane's big year was a major component for his hosting choice. MacFarlane's first major film, Ted took in $420 million.

“In the world existing in Hollywood right now, movies and television have merged their talents,” Zadan said.

Oscar nominations will be released on January 10. The ceremony will occur in February.
