Famke Janssen’s character Jean Grey may have been killed off twice in the Bryan Singer/Brett Ratner X-men trilogy, but with Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to X-men: First Class potentially seeking the return of former key cast members, the Phoenix may rise from the ashes again, so says Jannsen.
With Patrick Stewart also recently hinting at his return as Professor X, MTV caught up with Famke Jannsen.
“One never knows. Jean Grey, the Phoenix…she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows. I have no idea. Stay tuned,” the actress said.
The upcoming sequel, officially titled X-men: Days of Future Past, deals with time travel as the world faces a new threat and the only way to stop it is to stop an earlier event, says IGN.
The only former cast member to appear in 2011’s X-men: First Class was Hugh Jackman in a small cameo as Wolverine. That character has his own film coming out in 2013 titled The Wolverine.
The original X-men films also starred Ian McKellan, Halle Berry, James Marsden, Anna Paquin and Rebecca Romijn.
X-men: Days of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014.
