Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano have been added to the cast of the thriller Prisoners.
Prisoners follows the story of a carpenter, played by Hugh Jackman according to the Hollywood Reporter. His daughter and her best friend are kidnapped and the police are unable to find either child. Jackman’s character decides to find the kidnapper, but may have picked the wrong man.
Gyllenhaal, who last starred in End of Watch, is set to play a Detective Loki, who is assigned to the case according to Deadline. The detective will cause some problems for Jackman’s character as he searches for the kidnapper.
Dano is playing a neighbor of Jackman’s. He is said to have the mental competence of a 10-year-old, and is thought to be a good person, but may actually be a murderer.
The movie will be produced by Denis Villeneuve, whose movie Incendies was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2011 Oscars according to NME. The script is being written by Contraband's Aaron Guzikowski.
Production on the film is expected to begin in early 2013, with the film released in theaters on Sept. 20.
